White Horse 02:05
White Horse Went up north To see a White Horse With a nose for gold So the story goes Horse with a wild Flowing mane Not many could ride Too full of pride Landed in fall In orange leaves Colouring the valley An escarpment alley Wonderin’ round town In my orange shirt In murals created, Horse rider’s painted Stories they tell If you can hear’em If you can see’em Beings in bein’ The nose for gold Wolves and ravens Horse showing Together flowing Set off to work To earn my keep Pay for my suite Food I eat Horse gold I seek Not made of metal Not from a mine Find it through mind Made of orange leaves, White Horse’s mane, Made with the breeze With all being Following the course Of the White Horse Following the course Of the White Horse Of the White Horse

Whiskey Flats - In Three Dances Dance One Yukon river takes me Through Whiskey flat murmurs No sound of the guitars No sound of the whirls Saturday night they danced After a week of labour No cost for the pleasure Did themselves the favour Dancing shoes on all colours Dance welcomes all there A thought for poor strangers Dance welcomes no fare Yukon talks with murmurs Splashes sound the shore Quiet now no squatters No sounds of their roar No place among “houses” Shacks and tents no more Flat dwellers not welcome Nor their shit on the shore So I found me a basement Live below the escarpment No more cheap dwellings No Whiskey flat rent Dance Two After the dance one Saturday night He came with his blue suede shoes He came into Bonnie’s flat house He was in a good mood. He kissed Bonnie’s Momma’s head She was laying in bed Bonnie’s Daddy woke up in fight That man’s mood moved to dread. Daddy called “get me my gun” Well that man ran like a fool Through the open door he fled Left his blue suede shoes Bonnie said “well now Daddy, Look at them blue suede shoes, You go dance with sweet Momma, Don’t think of that bare-foot fool Momma’s beauty attracts the men Daddy you just stay cool, Momma wants to be with you Now don’t you be a fool. Dance away Saturday night In your new blue suede shoes They’ll be more flirting men And Momma she’ll be true." And the Whiskey kids riding round Enjoying bikes and friends All around Whiskey flats Playing games and pretend "An era that we look back on Those special days of glory, Community, pioneering ways, But not just happy stories. When I was a girl, we left the flats, On a holiday for a while, When we got back, so hard to see, The shacks knocked in a pile Laying there was my bike, And so I rode all around, No friends could be seen, All gone no trace or sound." Dance Three And before Whiskey flats Tagish Kwan and fish, Yukon a pure course, All formed by White Horse. And they flowed onto shores In winds across the lands, But contact land some In Whiskey flats homes Now to reclaim the shore What was there before, White Horse grant insight, Come shed your light White Horse we address, To grant us progress, Come flow with your power, In future flowers.

Falling Like Trees Been gone now For too many hours Out of the mountains Peaking highs. My hands hold Memories of loving, The river flowing Mountain dew. Fingers tickle Strings, please ring true, Sing that sweet sound Mountain echo. *** She falls hard Can I catch softly? Lay out my hands to Drop’in to. What to do now? My hands waiting My heart wanting to Sing her tune. And I fall hard I know its true Can she catch me? In limbs of her tree. What to do now? My hands waiting And I need her to, Catch me too! *** She falls hard Can I catch softly? Lay out my hands to Drop’in to. And we fall hard I know its true Can she catch me? And we, Stand like trees. She falls hard Can I catch softly? Lay out my hands to Drop’in to. And I fall hard I know its true Can she catch me? And we, Stand like trees. And we fall hard I know its true Can she catch me? And we, Stand like trees.

What Keeps Comin’ On? Wondered outside town, up Heartbreak hill, I could see all around, trees standing still. But beyond this forest, raging goes on Hearts driven by what’s going down. Despite the rain of ceaseless fire There still remain hearts, with peaceful desire Despite the rain of ceaseless fire There still remain hearts, with peaceful desire Way back in the day, it seems it began, When people first walked, away from tree stands. The ancients they say, solution is at hand, If we can move the spirit, connect with the land. Despite the rain of ceaseless fire There still remain hearts, with peaceful desire Despite the rain of ceaseless fire There still remain hearts, with peaceful desire Despite the rain of ceaseless fire There still remain hearts, with peaceful desire

Fall Grey Blues Getting cold Dark outside Without light Hard to find Faces wrapped Ear flaps down Slidin’ on ice To get around “Hello stranger!” Wave my arms, “I’m smiling, Mean no harm” “Hey Now, Hey Now! Hello to you too, Thanks for that, Greys my blues” Despite cold Snow and wind Snow on trees Shining gems Bright as any Twinkling star Winter trees Our avatars “With the trees, With you too, Being for this, Trying to do” “I’m so grateful, For this time, With you, for you, My song rhymes” In the cold Look for warmth In the dark You find light In tree limbs, Waving arms, Signs of peace, Mindful charms “I hear your voice, Sing in my head, My arms dancing, For you, my bread” “With your arms, I sing my song, The song it sings. We all belong” The song it sings We all belong The song it sings We all belong The song it sings We all belong.

Northern Lights Flew up north and Landed in grey No idea of Lands around me, When the sky cleared Mountains appeared, Oh what beauty I’m in a land To be seen. Rushed outside Have a better see, Take a picture Of where I be, Little red fox came, As I put down my cup, Not worried by me Pissed in my tea Welcome up. In the winter Its mostly night So I wondered outside To see northern lights, In my old duffle coat For cold winter air, But couldn’t see nothing City light glare My eyes flare So I just wondered How the lights would be, My mind full of colour From what I’d eaten My northern lights In city murals Showing me signs What they’re referring What’s inside? Looking for light I wonder the river Wind whips my eyes My eyes running water, Where’s the other shore? Across dark water? Halo rainbows Flowin’ bounds, With them as guides, Wonder dark centre, Is there light in there? Is the dark centre? Is there light in there? Where’s the other shore? Is there light in there? Where’s the other shore? Tween sane and insane… Dark mind…. Mood of the liminal Enveloping space What’s the speed of dark? It’s very fat, So hard to say, Dark has its own winds, Its not as easy as catching bullets, With your teeth! Where’s the other shore? Is there light in there? Where’s the other shore? Is there light in there? Where’s the other shore?

Snowflakes 03:01
Snowflakes Snowflakes falling in the dark, Its five o’clock Dancing round, in the park, What good luck! Sun long gone, moon is up, Just taking stock. Just flakes, droppin’ Fall with 9no sound Its just, serene, Am I deservin’? All the shapes snowflakes take, Each unique Count the sparkles on each flake, Its more than great Ice crystals on my tongue, Becoming one. Snowflakes, unique Sparkle, they’re bright Crystals unite Reflect each others light. River flows tween icy shores, Looks so cold Waves flicker in the light, Icy tongues Catching snowflakes ‘one by one’, Welcome home. Snowflakes, they come Dazzling crystal show Snowflakes, they go Soon we all follow. Just flakes, droppin’ Fall with no sound Its just, serene, Am I deservin’? Snowflakes, unique Sparkle, they’re bright Crystals unite Reflect each others light.

Winter Solstice Streets of coloured lights. In the darkest of times, When the world from the north, Leaves the sun behind. And in this dark turn There’s a call to the home, Calling to the hearth, Fire within the womb. Warming us deep, Replenishing our light, To arise from this space To burn a year bright Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year. Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year. And this year the climate Has warmed the place, Winter is here but Ice fog we haven’t faced. But going into ‘uaries’, Deep cold may still come, With dark just giving For light just begun Oh warmth of the hearth Take us through to spring, Let our leaves bud, Let our spirits ring Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year. Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year. Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year. Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year. Take us down, We all need lovin, To make it around Each year.
